About Me and my Philosophy

My name is Naomi Saltes. Originally from Toronto Canada I came to the US in 2000 and graduated from Chiropractic school hopeful that I could help people with my newfound skill and talent to “crack backs.”  20 years later I remain steadfast in my ability to help others, however my philosophy has completely changed.  I do not believe that our spines become “misaligned.”  Our spine is incredibly detailed, precise and complicated. It is comprised of very strong ligaments, muscles, tendons, blood vessels, discs, fascia, perfectly shaped bones, nerves and our spinal chord.  The idea that our spine can misalign, or a vertebrae can slip out of place, or that your back is “out” is completely unscientific and quite simply, not accurate.  The spine is in fact very sturdy and it protects and houses the  spinal chord. If it were possible to become “misaligned” so easily we would become paralyzed.  I am dispelling this notion of incorrect spinal curves, misalignments or poor posture. Your spine is exactly the curve and position it needs to be in. Many Chiropractors claim that spines become misaligned, thereby putting pressure on nerves exiting the spine which can affect your organs and health.  I do not believe in this theory.  I will never tell you to get adjusted to help with any physical illness. My main focus and interest are in your muscles and trigger points. These soft tissues are the main source of most of your pain and I have studied these over the 20 years I have been practicing. See below to read more about trigger point/myofascial work and the importance of removing them to experience a better quality of life.
